DR. NARENDRA BHATT, BSc., MD(Ayu), has 49+ years of academic, clinical, research and industrial experience with pioneering activities in varied fields. After 11 years, at Ayurvedic institutes in Mumbai Dr. Bhatt joined industry in 1987 for over 22 years, to hold various positions, mainly related to R&D and develop it as an independent business. As a CEO he successfully managed Zandu (2003-07), one of the largest Ayurvedic Pharma organization in the country. Presently he is associated as a ‘Mentor’ with Atal Incubation Centre at L. M. College of Pharmacy, [AIC-LMCP], Ahmedabad and is ‘Hon. Visiting Professor & Director General - Research & Development at MAM University, Nadiad. Dr. Bhatt has research interests in Rheumatism, Liver Disorders, Hemophilia and Cancer care and Novel Product Development. He has been involved with research projects on Praval, a marine Product and Hepatocellular Carcinoma. He was invited as a Presidential Scholar at the Columbia University, USA (2017) to present and share his experiences in the field of Ayurveda and Cancer care. A strong proponent of integrating knowledge base with technology & translational approaches he has published more than 110 papers, has contributed to chapters and patents. Need for collective efforts and network programs for growth of the sector are the focus of his writings. The text, “Integrative perspective: Ayurveda, Phytopharmaceuticals and Natural Products” edited by him with contributions from 41 renowned experts and his own contributions themed on ‘Integration’ very well received. He has pioneered a ‘MATRIX Model’ for standardization and product development and an ‘EVA Model’ for validation of CAM products and business driven R & D in Ayurved, Dr. Bhatt has been nominated to several governmental bodies including National Bio Resource Development Board, Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia Committee, Governing Body & Scientific Advisory Committee of CCRAS. He is associated with Advertisement Standards Council of India (ASCI). He was Honorary Ayurvedic advisor to Indian Institute for Integrative Medicine, Jammu (CSIR), Hon. Res. Director & Adjunct Professor at Bharati Vidyapeeth University, College of Ayurved, Pune and National Professor & Visiting Scientist in Ayurved & Phyto-pharmaceuticals, Haffkine Institute for Training, Research & Testing, Mumbai. Dr. Bhatt was on Drug Discovery Committee, AYUSH TASK FORCE (2015-16) and CANCER AND AYUSH COMMITTEE (2017), under Ministry of AYUSH. Dr. Bhatt has represented Ayurveda on international delegations at House of Lords Committee (UK), Commonwealth – CHEMEXCIL Program (EU), World Expo (Hanover), twice at the World Health Assembly (Geneva), the Business Delegation to EU Countries and for Global Research Alliance (World Bank) in South Africa & Tanzania. He is associated with & #39;BENEFYT' for deliberations on alternate draft legislature for Ayurvedic & TCM Products within EU. Manufactures' Association – ADMA - (1997-2006) and IASTAM for Asian Medicine. Dr. Narendra Bhatt has received 5 National Awards and An International Award as an Ayurvedic scholar and a clinician. He provides consultancy services for strategic and developmental services. As a 4th generation Ayurvedic physician, he has always continued with Ayurvedic clinical practice in Mumbai.
