Geraint Parry's Biography

Geraint Parry, President, Global Plant Council, UK
Geraint Parry is the Executive Officer of the Association of Applied Biologists, a UK-based learned scientific society. The main role of the AAB is to support the global scientific community through the organisation of conferences and workshops with a primary focus on how applied biology feed into agricultural improvement.
Dr Parry is the current President of the Global Plant Council, which is a coalition of plant science organisations. The GPC communicates scientific excellence and represents plant scientists at high-level policy events. Geraint obtained his PhD at the University of Nottingham, conducted postdoctoral research in the USA before returning to Liverpool in the UK to take up a lectureship where his lab studied the developmental significant of the plant nuclear pore complex. Geraint then transitioned to community-facing roles at GARNet and now the AAB.
