Upendra K Sharma's Biography
Upendra K Sharma, Research Expert, KU Leuven, Belgium
Dr. Upendra K. Sharma received his PhD (2011) from the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur, India. He then became an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Jalandhar, India. In 2013, he joined Prof. Erik Van der Eycken's research group at the University of Leuven, Belgium, followed by postdoctoral stints with Prof. Klavs F. Jensen (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Prof. Steven Ley (University of Cambridge), Prof. Timothy Noël (University of Eindhoven), and Prof. Shu-Li You (Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry), and has since published more than 70 articles in reputed international journals as well as co-editing a Springer series book on Flow Chemistry of Heterocycles. He joined KU Leuven in 2020 as a research expert (Jr. group leader), and his research is focused on developing photo- & electro-catalyzed single-electron-transfer (SET) reactions for the synthesis of (bio)molecules in batch and continuous-flow. Furthermore, the approach to scalability is more chemist-focused, with the goal of developing new chemical methodologies that are more suitable for flow chemistry.
