He is an Assistant Professor (School of Energy Science and Engineering) and Associate-faculty (P. K. Sinha Center for Bioenergy and Renewables) in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. His areas of research are Metabolic Engineering and Synthetic Biology; Multi-Omics Systems Biology; 13C Metabolic Flux Analysis; Computer Simulation of Biomolecular Systems and Bio-Energy. He has done his 5-year integrated M.Sc. (Physics) from Department of Physics in 2003 and then PhD, Biophysics & Molecular Biology- Molecular BioPhysics Unit (MBU) from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2009. He has about 15 yrs of experience followed by various awards and honors in his credits.
